DOT to Present Train Station Development Details Tonight
A representative of the Connecticut Department of Transportation will provide details on the New Haven - Springfield line development at tonight's town council meeting.
Town council members will convene Monday night for a regular meeting and included on the meeting's agenda is a presentation, delivered by a representative of the Connecticut Department of Transportation, on the New Haven - Hartford - Springfield commuter rail project, .
According to town documents, federal and state money provided to Windsor will allow for "a phased construction approach" to rail service in town.
The improvements are a part of improvements being made to the 62-mile New Haven - Springfield line, which will become operational "in the 2015-16 time frame."

With Windsor providing one of the stops on the enhanced rail line, development plans call for new elevated passenger platforms "with shelters and a pedestrian overpass to be constructed behind Town Hall, separate from the existing station to preserve its historic nature.
Long term plans include the construction of a "multi-level parking structure" where the dog pound and commuter lot currently sit, town documents say.

The town council's meeting will begin at 7:30 p.m., and will be preceded by a public hearing (7:15 p.m.) on the "proposed discontinuance of Spruce Road."
