Dollar Tree Project on Fast Track

A proposed tax abatement of 75 percent over four years will be discussed by the Town Council's Finance Committee tonight.

Dollar Tree representative told Windsor Town Council members last week that Windsor is the preferred location for the one-million-square-foot distribution center they plan to build and open for operation by the summer of 2013.

The company's timeline is aggressive, and as such, the project has been placed on the fast track through process of consideration by the appropriate town bodies. The project was introduced to the town council and approved by the Inlands, Wetlands and Watercourses Commission last week.

This week, a proposed tax abatement providing a 75-percent tax break over four years will be discussed by the Town Council's Finance Committee, and the site plan will be presented to the Town Planning and Zoning Commission.
