"Mr. Lockart is a perfect match for our children, their schools and the Board of Education, DTC Chair Leo Canty said.

"He will bring a strong commitment to public education and a good insight from our community."

Lockhart is a field service technician for Sensormatic (ADT).

He is also a deacon and trustee at Windsor's Santuary of Faith and Glory Church and serves as a lieutenant with Windsor's Volunteer Fire Department in its Wilson fire house.

Lockhart has been heavily involved with the Hartford Montessori program, serving eight terms as president of the Montessori Magnet School PTA and three terms as vice president of Hartford's Montessori Magnet School Governance Council.

His recommendation will go before DTC members for approval on January 12, 2012.

If approved, his recommendation will then go before the Board of Education in late January.
