Council to Act on Baseball Field Improvements

Despite the Town Planning and Zoning Commission's negative vote on plans to upgrade Windsor High's varsity field, the town council has the power to move the project forward.

The , deciding the proposal was insufficient relative to needed upgrades; however, the project could move forward if it receives a two-thirds-majority vote for approval when the town council meets on July 2.

At the meeting, Town Manager Peter Souza will recommend the council approve the appropriation of $80,000 in improvements to the field — funds that are budgeted for under the town's capital improvement program for fiscal year 2012-13.

Accoring to town documents, the project has two phases: maintenance and improvements to the varsity field; and the replacement of the Little League concession stand at Welch Park.
