The Windsor town council met Monday night for a fourth round at constructing a budget worth of approval at referendum. This time, the council made enough cuts to ensure the budget will have no impact on taxes.
In total, the council agreed to cut $435,400 from its most recent budget proposal — a proposal rejected by residents at a June 25 referendum. The cut brought overall spending down to just over $1.3 million and created a zero percent budgetary tax impact.
The mill rate has been set at 27.33 mills, which is actually a reduction from the current rate of 27.95.
The council scheduled the next referendum for July 16. Absentee ballots will be available, according to Town Manager Peter Souza.
The council made the following cuts to its proposed spending plan:
Board of Education — $200,000
Recreation and Leisure Department — $3,000
Library Service — $5,000
Public Works — $15,000
Information Services — $2,000
Administrative Services — $30,000
General Services — $180,400
