Budget Workshops Begin This Week

Budget workshops are designed to field resident input and inform them of the budget process as the town develops its plan for the upcoming fiscal year.

Budget workshops concerning the town's annual budget are set to begin Wed. Jan. 30.

The workshops are designed to provide residents with the opportunity to provide town officials with their thoughts on the construction of the fiscal year 2014 budget and learn about the budget process.

Wednesday's workshop, to be held from 7 p.m. - 9 p.m. in town hall council chambers, is the first of three such events.

The full schedule of budget workshops also includes meetings on February 27 and March 28.

All meetings will be held at town hall from 7 p.m. - 9 p.m.

The Business that comes to town and ruin property value, the business that insists we build sidewalks for their employees then the taxpayer has to shovel the sidewalk for them and become liable for any slip and fall that occurs, the Bd of Ed budget that is the biggest expenditure-full of bloat, is failing the kids and gets raises every year and needs to hire yet another person to figure this out for them- this is what will be "word smithed" (to borrow Eric Barz saying) at the meetings. How many of you can afford to cut your budget to pay for all of this bloat and fat? Anyone need another $90k horseshoe pit? Now is the time to applaud the town for what they have done to ask for it.

Like Julian stated, the workshops are designed to provide residents with the opportunity to provide town officials with their thoughts on the construction of the fiscal year. I’m sure town officials want the room filled to capacity! Last year I shared my thoughts with town officials. Some would roll their eyes or be too preoccupied with their phones. Are they REALLY listening to what you have to say?? Are they REALLY concerned with our thoughts? According to this article, these meetings are also designed for the residents to learn about the Budget process. A process that I am very interested in learning about. I would like a clear explanation of how our hard earned money is allocated to people, organizations, businesses who have their hands out or who are more than able to help themselves. Don’t misunderstand my above comments as I plan on attending!! WE ALL NEW TO ATTEND!! We need to make sure they keep their spending in check.
