A Look At The New Windsor: Great Pond Village, School Consolidation, Political Candidates

A look at important happenings at the heart of town.

Town Hall Council Chambers will be busy all week long as residents and civil servants file in and out, conducting business during a week in which it has become apparent that Windsor is on the cusp of great change.

  • Tuesday night, Windsor Public Schools administrators will welcome Windsor parents and residents to Council Chambers to discuss "Elementary Consolidation and Grade Configuration." This will be the first of two "focus groups" provided for parents to attend.
  • On Wed., July 20, town officials are inviting Windsor residents and business owners to come to Council Chambers and learn about the Great Pond Village Development to be constructed off of Day Hill Road. Upon completion over the next 20 years, the development's 4,000 residential units will boost Windsor's population, which has remained relatively level over the past decade, by an estimated 7,800 people.
  • On Thurs., July 21, both the Democratic and Republican Town Committees will hold their caucuses, making candidates on their candidate slates official, and enabling them to begin ther campaigns for seats on the town council, board of education and other town boards and commissions. There are new faces on the slate for both parties.
