Windsor PD: Gas Station Robbed at Gunpoint

Windsor police are searching for an animal-masked man they say used a gun to rob a Poquonock Avenue Gas Station.

A man wearing an animal mask held up a Poquonock Avenue Mobile Gas station on Jan. 18, using a handgun to coerce the station clerk to give up cash, Windsor police say.

According to police, the suspect entered , at 11:59 p.m., brandished a handgun and ordered the store clerk to get behind the counter, open the cash register and lay on the floor.

The suspect then removed the cash from the register, took several packs of cigarettes and then "calmly left the store and ran south on Poquonock Avenue," police report.

According to police, a police K-9 tracked the suspects scent down Poquonock Avenue before losing the trail at the Allstate Insurance office.

Windsor Police also say they believe the robbery is connected to a recent armed robbery of a Subway restaurant on National Drive in Windsor Locks.

Windsor Police are asking anyone with information about the incident or the individual pictured to contact the Windsor Police Department by calling 860-688-5273.

Police say the suspect stands approximately 6 feet tall and was last seen wearing dark clothes, work gloves, light-colored sneakers a jacket that may have been inside out and a full animal mask.

It's possible that it was his own gun and it was purchased legally. The fact that he has a gun may not be the issue. The fact that he's robbing a store with it is what the issue is. Don't think that countries without a second amendment have less crime than the United States...because if you do - you are wrong!

I am referring to people who post very sarcastically rude comments on very unbiased, factual news articles. We already get enough of that from the media, why ruin good articles that are solely used for information for both the public and the police, with such childish remarks.

@Jim Greene: You are so right. In an ideal world, there would not be any weapons. No death, no sickness, no hunger, no homelessness, no abuse. That is in fact what God wanted us to have. However, man usually screws up good things and we are stuck in a mean world. Case in point this robbery. Here is some whack job-stealing handful of cash at gunpoint more likely than no to support his lousy drug addiction. The fact is criminals, addicts, and psychos like Lanza do not care about laws therefore they will not follow them.
