Updated: Pediatrician Pleads Guilty To Child Pornography Charge

Dr. Todd Parrilla appeared in Hartford federal court this morning.

Updated 1:00 p.m.: Former Pawcatuck pediatrician, Dr. Todd Parrilla, 48, of Stonington pleaded guilty to federal child pornography charges, Monday.

According to a press release from the U.S. Attorney for the District of Connecticut Parrilla waived his right to indictment and pleaded guilty to one count of receipt and distribution of child pornography before U.S. District Judge Vanessa L. Bryant in Hartford.    

“This defendant possessed and distributed tens of thousands of images and videos portraying the sexual abuse of children,” stated U.S. Attorney Fein. “This is a heinous crime. That it was committed by a pediatrician, whose profession is committed to the well-being of children, makes it especially disturbing. I commend the FBI and the Connecticut Computer Crimes Task Force for investigating this matter, and the tireless work they do every day to investigate these crimes and protect children from exploitation.”

Dr. Todd Parrilla was and charged with the possession, receipt, and distribution of child pornography following an FBI undercover operation that originated in Kansas City, Missouri. At the time of his arrest Parrilla, was a practicing in Pawcatuck.

A sentencing is scheduled for October 24, 2012. Parrilla faces a mandatory minimum term of imprisonment of five years and a maximum term of imprisonment of 20 years.

11:06 a.m.: A Pawcatuck is expected to appear in Hartford federal court this morning.

Dr. Todd Parrilla was and charged with the possession, receipt, and distribution of child pornography following an FBI undercover operation that originated in Kansas City, Missouri.

According to a press release from the U.S. Attorney for the District of Connecticut Parrilla is expected in federal court today for a waiver of indictment and guilty plea proceeding.
