The cause of the the wire's failure is unkown, police said, speculating that Tuesday's thunderstorm may have contributed to the issue.

According to Bloomfield Police, downed power lines sparking a fire is a relatively common occurance. Often times, the lines can set the asphalt on fire, and burn roadside sand, they said.
