Trial to Begin Soon for Doctor Accused of Sex Assaults

Middlesex County doctor Tory Westbrook faces multiple sexual assault charges stemming from alleged unwanted contact with several patients.

Jury selection is set to begin this week in the trial of Dr. Tory Westbrook, a Clinton-based physician accused of sexually touching over a dozen patients.

Middlesex Superior Court officials are expected to start picking jurors on Thursday in five of the 19 cases against Westbrook, the clerk’s office said Wednesday.

After the selection process is finished, which will likely take a few weeks, the court will set a date for the trial to start, officials said.

Westbrook, of Glastonbury, was arrested in 2012 in an investigation that he inappropriately touched multiple female patients during visits to his Community Health Center hospital in 2010 and 2011. He also faces charges larceny and insurance fraud.

He has pleaded not guilty to all of the charges against him, most of which are fourth-degree sexual assault.

The jury selection was expected to start earlier this week, however it was delayed at request of Westbrook’s attorney, Norm Pattis, who was engaged in a different trial this past week, the clerk’s office said.

Westbrook was previously affiliated with Middlesex Hospital and served in advisory positions in East Hampton and East Haddam.
