UPDATE: Mototown USA Collapses While Workers Clear Roof

The roof of Mototown USA collapsed Monday afternoon, bringing along with it the sides of the 340,000 square foot facility while workers tried to clear the roof of snow.

Update: The Windsor Police Department responded to a call at 2:50 p.m. on Monday reporting that the Mototown USA roof collapsed, trapping six workers inside.

Windsor police, volunteer fire department, public works and other public agencies responded to the scene.

Once on the scene, Windsor authorities learned that four workers, not six, were trying to clear the building's roof of snow when the collapse occured and that no workers were trapped inside.

According to Windsor Police Capt. Tom Lepore, all workers were accounted for. There were no injuries reported. The workers were able to escape to another section of the facility that did not collapse.

Adjacent to Mototown USA are Gold's Gym, Blimpie and Subway. The three establishments remain entact and accessible from the parking lot.

The roof of Mototown USA has collapsed due to snow accumulation. WFSB has reported that workers were clearing the roof when the collapse began.

No injuries have been reported.

The facility has been billed as America's largest motocross facility since its opening in 2006.

Plans were in place to convert the space into a movie studio and film a movie based on the life of former New England Patriots star Tebucky Jones.
