Neighbors Help Police Nab Home Invasion Suspects

Windsor police arrested the second of two suspected home invaders from an attempted burglary in August 2010.

Windsor police arrested Jonathan Ayala last week, the second of two suspected burglars in an alleged home invasion attempt that took place in August 2010.

The nineteen-year-old Hartford resident allegedly targeted a Bloomfield Avenue home with Paul Perez, 30, also of Hartford, who was arrested by police in October 2010, according to Capt. Tom Lepore of the Windsor Police Department.

The men sought to enter the home to recover a debt owed to them, Lepore said.

According to police reports, the men were armed with a handgun and fled the targeted property without causing harm to the residents or obtaining any property or valuables.

Police were alerted to the scene by neighbors who spotted Ayala and Perez running through the property's bushes, Lepore said.

Perez was located that night and interviewed, Lepore added. Interviews led them to taking Perez into custody in October and finally apprehending Ayala last week, he said.

Perez and Ayala were charged with conspiracy to invade a home, criminal liability in connection with a home invasion, and criminal intent to commit burglary in the third degree.
