Police: Windsor Man Possessed 8 Grams of Crack In Buttocks

Charles Shannon was charged following a sting operation at a Middletown residence.

Middletown Police performed a successful drug bust at a Middletown apartment Wednesday, resulting in multiple arrests, including that of Charles Shannon of Windsor, who was charged with possession of crack cocaine, possession with intent to sell, possession with intent to sell with 1,500 feet of a school zone, and interference with a search warrant.

Authorities executed the search warrant at the home of Patricia Harris on Pearl Street in Middletown. Harris, police said, was believed to "allow narcotic traffickers to sell crack cocaine out of her apartment."

According to police, when officers entered the apartment, "detectives identified several known female crack-cocaine users, along with Harris," 54, who was found to be in possession of clear glass crck cocaine pipes.

Police also identified two males inside the residence, Shannon, 37, and Franklin Brown of Middletown, they said. Both men refused to be handcuffed, police said.

Shannon, police added, claimed he was at Harris' home to smoke crack cocaine when Middletown Police canine Rika alerted police to Shannon's buttocks and groin area.

According to Middletown Police, "As detectives attempted to search Shannon he began to move away. Detectives were able to control Shannon and could feel a hardened substance in his buttocks area."

After struggling with Shannon, who lives on Allen Street, detectives "removed a clear cellophane bag containing suspected crack cocaine," police said.

The detectives then removed 8.8 grams of crack cocaine from Shannon's buttocks, according Middletown Police.

Shannon and Harris were taken into custody and transported to Middletown Police Department headquarters.

Both individuals, police said, "have extensive criminal histories."

Harris was charged with consipiracy to sell crack cocaine and possession of drug paraphernailia in a school zone. She was held on a $50,000 bond.

Shannon was issued and held on a $200,000 bond.
