Police: Driver in Doctor's Office Crash in "Very Serious" Condition [Updated]

Windsor police identified the driver of the December 31 Broad Street accident as Jenny Benvenuto.

According to Windsor Police, the driver of on the morning of December 31 has been identified as Jenny Benvenuto, formerly of Windsor.

Windsor Police Captain Tom LePore said the 34-year-old Enfield resident was extracted from her vehicle by Windsor firefighters and transported to the hospital where she now remains in "very serious condition."

LePore added that Benvenuto was transported to Hartford Hospital and her condition is improving.

She was the only person in the vehicle at the time of the crash, the cause of which is still unknown.

Authorities have yet to determine whether or not drugs or alcohol were a factor and continue to investigate, LePore said.

The department is also working in conjunction with the North Central Municipal Accident Squad to determine the speed of the vehicle at the time of the crash.

No charges have been filed.

In September 2010, Benvenuto was the passenger in the vehicle driven by Michael Pajak that killed Trooper First Class Kenneth Hall when it ran into Hall's cruiser during a traffic stop.

Benvenuto was in critical condition following the 2010 accident. She was not charged, according to Lt. J. Paul Vance of the Connecticut State Police.
