Photos: Bart's Bike Night In Support Of Police Officer's Family

Heavy showers couldn’t deter a band of bikers and car owners from turning out at Bart’s Drive-In for a charity bike night and car cruise on Wednesday evening. The event, hosted by the Elusive Ryderz Motorcycle Club and Dreamz II Reality Motorsports was held in memory of Detective Rafael Segarra.

Segarra, an 18-year member of the New Haven Police Department, was 44 when he died from complications related to diabetes, according to the New Haven Register.

The husband and father of three children earned four commendations during his career. All proceeds from the event were donated to Segarra’s family.

Despite the rainy weather, a large number of vehicles filled the Bart’s parking lot. Sergio Ortiz, the event organizer, said: “It’s great that so many people came out in this weather for such a worthy cause. We can’t wait to do this again!”
