National Weather Service Warns of Brush Fire Danger

Should one ignite, dry conditions and wind through the weekend would cause it to spread quickly.

By Gary Jeanfaivre

Even though the area experienced rain Thursday, the National Weather Service has issued a "special weather statement" warning of a heightened danger of a brush fire spreading Friday and over the weekend.

In the statement, issued at 10:30 a.m. on Nov. 8, the NWS says "windy and dry airmass will enhance brush fire spread."

The statement pertains to Connecticut and parts of New York.

The alert comes less than two weeks after a brush fire burned about five acres at Sleeping Giant State Park in Hamden, Conn.

According to the NWS, the forecast is calling for dry weather through the weekend.
