Mystery Remains Following Autopsy of Recovered Windsor Body

An investigation continues nearly two weeks after a fisherman spotted the body in the Connecticut River in Windsor.

Despite an autopsy having been conducted, the identity of a body pulled from the Connecticut River in Windsor nearly ten days ago has not been determined, according to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.

In addition to a lack of evidence in the investigation, Windsor Police said the body was in the water for a considerable amount of time and sustained an extensive amount of decomposition.

The body decomposed to such an extent, Windsor Police Capt. Tom LePore said, that a determination of race or other defining characteristics was hard to make.

Windsor Police pulled the unidentified body from the river banks on May 4, having received a call from a fisherman who spotted the body snagged on a fallen tree limb.

The lack of information regarding the body has made it difficult for the investigation to swing in one way or the other, according to LePore.

Accordingly, LePore said, it's too early to determine whether or not foul play was involved.
