Fire Displaces Wilson Family

A family of four was forced from their home by a fire Friday.

The Red Cross is helping a Windsor family of four — two adults and two children — after a fire caused extensive damage to their Wilsono home.

The blaze ripped through the home on Skitchewaug St., off of Windsor Avenue, Friday.

The Red Cross provides "comfort kits" to families in need of disaster assistance, which contain personal care items, such as toothbrushes, shaving supplies, deodorant and other items.

Children's kits include a toy.

The Red Cross will also provide emergency housing and clothing needs for the family.

Windsor Fire officials were not available late Friday to comment on the cause of the blaze.

The Windsor family was the second family to receive assistance from Red Cross Friday, the other being a Hartford family displaced from their home on Fenwick Street when a fire damaged their home.
