Ex-Windsor Doctor Gets 5-Year Sentence for Sexual Assault

Njoku operated an office on Poquonock Avenue in Windsor.

Edwin Njoku, a former doctor who ran offices in Windsor and East Hartford, was sentenced to five years in prison Tuesday, NBC Connecticut reports.

The sentencing, which was held at Hartford Superior Court, comes after Njoku was convicted of sexually assaulting a patient and tampering with a witness.

Njoku was also acquitted of first-degree sexual assault during a previous court appearance.

Njoku was arrested at his office on Poquonock Avenue in February 2013, and charged with multiple counts of sexual assault after a woman told authorities he "forcefully had sexual intercourse with her against her will."

The crimes Njoku was convicted of took place in his East Hartford office.

According to NBC Connecticut, there are still sexual assault charges pending against Njoku — charges involving a handful of other patients.
