Dr. Tory Westbrook Found Guilty on All Counts in Sex Assault Trial

The Clinton physician still faces 14 other cases of sexual assault, which he plans to take to trial.

Dr. Tory Westbrook, the physician who went to trial against charges that he sexually assaulted five women at his medical clinic, has been found guilty of all counts against him.

The verdict was announced earlier today in Middlesex Superior Court, where Westbrook's trial had been proceeding since last week.

These five cases that he was found guilty on — a mix of second-degree and fourth-degree sexual assault charges — are only a portion of the total 19 cases that Westbrook, of Glastonbury, currently faces.

The judge increased Westbrook's bond to $1.95 million and he was then taken into custody, the clerk's office said. He is due to be sentenced on Jan. 31.

The Hartford Courant reported that Westbrook faces 44 years in prison, however his attorney, Norm Pattis, said they plan on appealing the verdict. As for the other 14 cases, those are still on the jury docket.

The Clinton-based physical was arrested in 2012 after a lengthy investigation stemming from complaints from women who accused him of sexually touching them during regular medical procedures at his Community Health Center clinic in 2010 and 2011.

Pattis has argued, however, that the initial testimony the victims gave during the police investigation was very similar. Pattis noted this during the trial proceedings, saying they seemed to be the result of collusion among them and their lawyers, The Courant reported.

Westbrook was previously affiliated with Middlesex Hospital and served in advisory positions in East Hampton and East Haddam.
