Bomb Squad Shuts Down Bloomfield Avenue [Updated]

A truck driver, acting erratically, told owners of the Sunoco station on Bloomfield Avenue his truck was filled with explosives

Update, 5 p.m.

Windsor police have opned Bloomfield Avenue after finding no explosives in a truck parked alongside the road's shoulder.

Police Captain Tom LePore said the department called the bomb squad to investigate the truck's cargo after the driver reported the presence of explosives within his tractor trailor.

Windsor police have closed the portion of Bloomfield Avenue intersecting with Exit 37 on Interstate 91 to investigate a suspicious tractor-trailer.

Bomb squad units were called and arrived on the scene just after 2 p.m.

Bloomfield Avenue is currently blocked off from Cook Hill Road to Marshall Phelps Road.
