Accused Windsor Bank Robber to Enter Plea

Police say Anthony Mack moved to New Hampshire after robbing Windsor and New Britain banks and a check-cashing location in Vernon.

In collaboration with several area police department, Windsor Police were able to identify and charge a man they say is responsible for a bank robbery on Windsor Avenue.

According to documents obtained in court, Windsor police say 26-year-old Anthony Mack of Hartford entered Windsor Shopping Centers' Sovereign Bank and handed the teller a note, which read, "This is a robbery. I will shoot, $70,000, on the counter."

He only made off with what cash was in the teller's drawer — about $2,300, court records state. Mack, witnesses said, left the bank on foot; however, police were unable to get a clear picture of his face.

A few months later, however, the full picture came into focus, court documents say, when New Britain Police identified a man wanted for the robbery of a local TD Bank.

New Britain Police said Anthony Mack was wanted for the robbery and released photos of him, as he had a criminal past including drug charges.

Mack, according to New Britain Police confessed to committing the robbery, in addition to the robbery of a cash-checking location in Vernon.

Court records state Mack made off with more than $40,000 in the three robberies and then moved to Vermont, where an arrest warrant was obtained, enabling his transportation back to Connecticut for interviewing.

In an interview with Windsor police, Mack denied the Sovereign Bank robbery, saying he didn't remember it and years of PCP use "has fried his brain," court records reveal.

Police were able to press charges, however, once photos obtained from the New Britain Police Department were compared with photos from the Windsor robbery and shown to witnesses.

Mack is currently being held on $500,000 bond. He has been charged with first-degree robbery, conspiracy to commit first-degree robbery, third-degree larceny and conspiracy to commit third-degree larceny by Windsor police.

He also faces second-degree robbery charges in Vernon, and robbery, larceny and marijuana charges in New Britain.

He is set to appear in Enfield Superior Court on May 7.
