WINDSOR RESIDENT HONORED BY DUNCASTER FOR DEDICATED SERVICE

Bloomfield, CT, July 25, 2013 – Windsor resident Deloris Nelson was recently honored by her employer, Duncaster Retirement Community.  She was one of two recipients of the 13th annual Peggy and David Hubbard Award. The award is given by the community to two employees who provide excellent service at Duncaster.  Also receiving the award was Derrick Hodges, a cook at Duncaster’s Terrace Dining Room and Courtyard Café.

Founded by the children of the Hubbards, longtime residents of Duncaster, the award honors two staff members, one working in a clinical capacity and the other non-clinical. Selections are made based on nominations from residents and colleagues in recognition of outstanding qualities of kindness, thoughtfulness, and consideration of others.

Nelson, a licensed practical nurse at Duncaster’s Caleb Hitchcock Health Center received recognition as the Clinical Award Winner. Hodges received the Non-Clinical Award.

Windsor’s Deloris Nelson was the clinical winner.  Nelson is a hard worker and is described by her colleagues as “a pleasure to work alongside.” “Duncaster staff members nominated Deloris, citing her cheerful, positive attitude as something that makes work interesting and fun,” says Michael O’Brien President and CEO of Duncaster. “In the nomination they noted that she is always ready and willing to lend a helping hand, often without being asked. She is a dedicated, organized team-player who goes the extra mile to make sure her work is done exceptionally well. As a result, she enjoys a wonderful rapport with residents and co-workers and is well loved by all.”
