Why All Candidates Count

Congratulations are in order to the winners of Windsor’s 2013 town elections.  In wishing you well, Windsor residents should also thank those candidates who did not win but gave of their time and talents to energize the debate and thereby enhance our democratic process called elections.

This year Windsor saw the birth of The Windsor Independent Party, a third party comprised of concerned residents and two former town officials: Town Council Republican member Lisa Boccia and Board of Education member Republican Kristin Ingram.  In particular, we need to recognize what their efforts meant.  If they stayed within their respective Party, they most likely would have won.  Instead, they choose to venture out and put their candidacy at risk in answer to many residents’ request for a Third Party.

Everyone who ran made a difference by giving voice to an ever-expanding exchange on what citizens want.  Let’s begin by listening to all the voices.
