Patch's Poll: How Will Jim Calhoun's Career Be Remembered?

The legendary UConn basketball coach is retiring after 26 years and three national championships.

He came back time and again from illness and injuries, but today Jim Calhoun, 70, formally retires after 26 years of coaching the University of Connecticut's basketball program.

The magic moments of his career — not the least of which was an unexpected national championship in 2011 — are many. In 2005, before even the most recent national championship, he was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame.

But in recent years, Calhoun drew a suspension for recruiting violations, and the men's basketball program was barred from postseason play in 2013 because of poor academic performance.

That's not the whole of it, though. Calhoun is also a prominent philanthropist in Connecticut, raising millions for the Pat and Jim Calhoun Cardiology Center at UConn Health Center and supporting other charities.

What's your take on the controversial coach's ultimate legacy? How do you think Calhoun will be remembered by the people of Connecticut?
