Roughly 100,000 crashes occur every year as a result of someone texting while driving, AT&T President Rodney Smith said in a press release.
To spread awareness about this, the phone company has created a new no-texting-and-drivng pledge, which it encourages al drivers to sign. It can be viewed here.
Smith said AT&T wants texting and driving to be as unacceptable as drinking and driving is.
“I hear from far too many people whose lives have been forever changed by a texting-while-driving accident, and together, we want to spread the word about how deadly a single text can be,” he said.
