Lost on Halloween

Did you find an unexpected item of value amongst your child's Halloween treats or at a Windsor grocery store on Oct. 31? An 87 year old Windsor woman is devastated by the loss of a family heirloom piece of jewelry, which she was wearing when she arrived at a Windsor grocery store late on the afternoon of Halloween. She rushed home to finish preparing for the arrival of the many trick or treaters who come to her home on Merriman Rd. year after year. At 87 she continues to go all out with decorations as well as treats.  She looks forward to seeing the kids in their costumes and they love stopping by for the very generous treats she provides. Her home is a must stop on Halloween, not only for the kids in her neighborhood but also  for many adult neighbors and friends. Unfortunately, this year, when the last guest had gone and the lights were turned out, her joy from a wonderful evening turned to despair when she discovered what was lost. One frantic call to a neighbor brought  everyone together again to search the house and grounds for the missing item with no luck. Her wonderful neighbors and friends have all joined forces in the search by making calls, putting up posters, placing ads and using electronic media to try to help with the search. Unless whoever found what this special lady has lost returns it, this Halloween will hold a very sad memory for her - the loss of something precious to her mother that was to go to her granddaughter next. Being unable to pass this item on to another generation of the family is what pains her the most. Call 860-688-6512 or post a comment on this blog if you have any information.
