Introducing "Good News Fridays"

Because we could all use something to make us smile, reflect and keep us going through what will be a fantastic 2013.

2012 was a rough year.

I'm not sure about you, but 2012 was filled with many "ups" and some significant "downs" for me. Heck, I'm positive we all experienced some tough times over the past twelve months. With that in mind, I've decided to plant my heels in the ground and decide to: 1) move forward; 2) and actively make 2013 better.

In an effort to do so, I've decided to present "Good News Fridays."

It's exactly what is sounds like; nothing more nothing less. I'm committing to supplying a piece of good news and providing a place for you to share a piece of good news each Friday.

It doesn't matter how big or how small the news is. Something as simple as a door held open, the glimpse of a blooming flower as spring breaks or the sensation of a warm blanket on a chilly winter night can make us all smile. Share it all.

Good news is everything from the seemingly mundane to the tremendous pride you feel when you spot your child's name on the quarter's academic honor roll (that surely brings a great smile to your face, and we all want to share that with you).

Good News Fridays also calls for the resurgence of our "Difference Makers" series, in which we highlight Windsor residents, organizations and businesses who go above and beyond to do good in the community.

If you'd like to share some good news, leave a note in the comment field of each week's story.

If you'd like me to look into some good news, shoot me an email at julian.mckinley@patch.com or give me a ring at 860-593-4475.

Let's make 2013 a great one, Windsor. And let's do it smiling together.
