Free Movie at Unitarian Universalist Society: East

Please join us on Tuesday, September 24th at 3:30 for a screening and conversation of the award winning "How to Die in Oregon".

I would like to invite you to a special screening of the award winning film “How to Die in Oregon” on Tuesday, September 24th at 3:30 pm at the Unitarian Universalist Society: East, 153 West Vernon Street West, Manchester, CT 06042.  You can click here for directions.

Winner of the Grand Jury Prize at the Sundance Film Festival in 2011, “How to Die in Oregon” is an important look at courage, dignity and compassion at the end of life.

I support compassionate aid in dying.  The heart of the matter for me is this: providing aid in dying under strict legal conditions preserves human dignity. Every day there are people who receive news that there are no remaining medical interventions to treat a terminal illness that will inevitably and quickly end their life. Some of those people—not many, but some—upon receiving this news, and after careful consideration of all the ramifications, find in themselves a strong desire to end their life by their own hand rather than let their disease run its course. As a pastor I feel strongly that people in this situation ought to have the right to receive aid in dying from their medical doctors. This is why I support efforts in Connecticut to pass "Aid in Dying" legislation, and this is why I urge you to see "How to Die in Oregon."
