Irene's Damage in Windsor, One Year Later

A look back at the historic flooding caused by Tropical Storm Irene in August 2011.

It was just one year ago that Windsor, a town situated at the nexus of the Farmington and Connecticut Rivers that has seen its fair share of flooding, witnessed waters rise to levels unheard of in over half a century.

Residents flocked to the banks of the Farmington by Bart's and the Beanery Bistro to catch a glimpse of Irene's aftermath.

Townwide, Irene did little damage here in town, particularly relative to damage sustained in other parts of the state and New England; but the rivers' waters provided a sight many will remember for years to come.
