Lisa Marie Boccia: Independent Town Council Candidate

Lisa was born and raised in Newington, Connecticut. She graduated from Newington High School as Class President and Salutatorian. From there she attended Trinity College on an academic scholarship, graduating Phi Beta Kappa with Honors in Economics. Lisa earned her MBA with a Specialization in Accounting and graduated as a member of Beta Gamma Sigma and Pi Gamma Mu Honor Societies.

She moved to Windsor with her husband Phil in 2000. After years of working for Corporate America in a variety of management capacities, she decided to make a change and become a small business owner. Instead she became a “full-time volunteer” to do all that she could to help her less fortunate neighbors.

Some of her past and present activities include:

  • current Windsor Town Councilor
  • past Windsor Human Relations Commission Chair
  • Windsor Community Service Council Treasurer
  • Windsor C.A.R.E.S. Treasurer
  • Ascend Mentoring Board Member
  • member of Community Health Resources Development Committee
  • volunteer WIN-TV Send Hometown Windsor to the Troops, Adopt Families for Christmas
  • Adult Literacy volunteer
  • Windsor Food Bank/Mobile Food Bank volunteer
  • Windsor Social Services Friendly Shopper
  • Windsor Senior Center volunteer
  • Windsor Adult Education ESL Tutor
  • Friend-To-Friend volunteer
As a result of her volunteer work, she knows how many of our neighbors are facing hard times and for that reason continues for fight for no tax increases. “This year was hard, and next year is going to be harder.” Her goal as a Councilor is to work For The People – ALL of the People. “Where ever I go in Town, I hear the same thing: ‘They (elected officials) don’t care about us.’ We are a diverse Town made up of diverse districts, and it is the job of all elected officials to address the needs of each of them equally.”

Finally, Lisa focuses on making Government more Transparent, Accountable, and Responsive. She encourages citizens to get involved so that they can understand the processes and know how their money is being spent. She answers all residents’ emails and calls.

Lisa can be reached at Lmboccia-Lucas@snet.net or (860) 688-4927.
