John was born and raised in Rockville, (Vernon) CT and graduated from Rockville High. He is a University of Connecticut alumni with a BA in Economics. Post graduate courses in Accounting led to a career as a Retail Merchandise Manager and Buyer for Ames Department Stores at the corporate office in Rocky Hill, CT.
Interests and organizations include: 2nd term President of the Greater Hartford Chapter of Mended Hearts, Inc., a local and national support group for people who have experienced heart events. John is an Accredited Visitor offering hope, support and encouragement to heart patients at Hartford Hospital. Additionally, John is on the scholarship committee for fundraising at St. Joseph’s Church, Poquonock, CT. His other volunteer activities include fundraising and support of several animal charities such as “OutToPasture.org”.
John and his wife, Joan Elder Dunn, are long standing residents of Windsor and have been married for over 30 years. They love walking their Border Collie when time permits.
When elected, John will help our Windsor residents have a voice in their local government and will help them learn and participate in the decisions that affect their daily lives through representation on town boards and commissions.
John would like to motivate citizens to participate in town government. Changes need to be made at the local level. We must work to strengthen our schools and to increase residential property values.
