Help a Local Family Raise Multiple Sclerosis Awareness

Stephanie Famiano's husband was recently diagnosed and she is raising funds through GoFundMe.

Stephanie Famiano's husband is now fighting Multiple Sclerosis and she is raising money via the GoFundMe Web site.

According to the page on GoFundMe, her husband, Joe, began to experience pain behind his left eye. He thought it may be a headache and ignored it for days until that pain got worse and further turned into a loss of vision. The loss of vision coupled with the pain prompted him to call his doctor. What began as a visit to his primary care physician, turned into what will be a life-long relationship with a team of doctors.

The page states, "In an effort to bring awareness to the illness that is effecting not just my husband, but family members, friends and strangers alike, I will dedicate 2014 to fund raising. I will attempt to raise $10,000 before December 31, 2014. With everyone’s help, we can raise awareness and funds to eventually wipe out this debilitating disease. In 2012, I ran 1,000 miles. By the time 2013 closes, I will have exceeded that. In 2014, I will run 1,500 miles, many of which will be measured in 5Ks, 10Ks, half marathons, and marathons. With each race, I run, I will ask for the support of everyone to donate their words of encouragement, promotion of awareness, or monetary funding. By donating via this site, your contributions will go to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. Very few dollars will go toward the creation of promotional items which will showcase our mission. You have the option to indicate whether a portion of your contribution will result in a promotional item."

So far, $2,175 has been raised. To donate to the cause, visit the GoFundMe page.
