SHAKESPEARE '70 presents Noel Coward's THE VORTEX

Shakespeare '70, celebrating over 40 years bringing great classic and contemporary drama to the area, presents an unexpected cocktail of Banter and Bite. Dec, 6,7,13 & 14 at 8pm;Dec. 8 at 2 pm.  Tickets purchased at the Door on Show dates, or reserved by calling 609 882 5979.Directed by Curt Foxworth, THE VORTEX explores a culture of celebrity, vanity, and hedonism through the story of Florence Lancaster, a now aging socialite, and her wayward musician son Nicky. Persona and personality mask reality in the Lancasters’ world, where the most valued currencies are sex, drugs, and repartee. Only when they are forced to drop the personnae and face reality do they question what a life lived out loud has cost them.... In a modern age obsessed with the over-sized lives of the rich and famous-for-no-reason, Coward's biting tragicomedy, first staged in 1924, proves remarkably current.
