Norman Gage/Kenny Reed Jazz Quintet

The Norman Gage/Kenny Reed Quintet will perform at the Windsor Art Center, 40 Mechanic St., Windsor, CT on Thursday, July 10, 2014 at 7:00 PM.   

Norman Gage, saxophonist, is a long-time contributor to the Hartford jazz scene.  He led his own 13 piece jazz band in the 1980s that played all original arrangements and played in the pit orchestra for the 1981 and 1982 Connecticut Commission on the Arts Awards ceremonies and has played numerous venues including the Monday Night Bushnell Park Series.  Trumpeter Kenny Reed was a fixture in the Washington, D.C. jazz scene for 30 years and has recorded his own cd with D.C.’s best and has recorded with vocalist Ronnie Wells.  He appears on tenor saxophone great Clifford Jordan’s last cd. The Norman Gage/Kenny Reed Quintet has performed at Piggy’s Cafe, the Hartford Jazz Festival, Black Eyed Sally’s, and the Hartford Public Library among many others. 

This concert is part of the Windsor Art Center’s Summer Concert Series sponsored by the The Ensworth Charitable Foundation, Bank of America, N.A., Trustee.  Upcoming performances in this series include Joshua Breakstone, Ellen Woloshin, and Jazz duo Terry Blaine and Mark Shane.  Suggested donation for all concerts is $10.00 at the door. For more information, call 860-688-2528 or visit www.windsorartcenter.org.
