Grand Opening Windsor Art Center Studios

Like clockwork, the northbound
Amtrak train will pull into Windsor Station at 11:22 a.m., but on one Wednesday
in early September, passengers will witness the official transformation of the
Windsor Station to the Windsor Art Center Studios, home to working artists and
future classes and workshops in the visual arts. The public is invited to join art
center members and directors, along with town officials and other local
dignitaries, in celebrating the grand opening of the Windsor Art Center
Studios. The event will occur on the station platform at 35 Central Street at
11:20 a.m. on Wednesday, September 4. Following the dedication, attendees are invited to tour the studios, meet
the artists and enjoy light refreshments.

Located in the
enter of historic Windsor, CT, Windsor
Station was originally built in 1870 as the Hartford & New Haven Railroad Depot and rebuilt to its

original Victorian architecture by the Town of Windsor, Amtrak and the Greater Hartford Transit District in
1988, the same year it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Artists
may rent studio space, and any artists who are interested in teaching may
propose a visual arts class or classes for adult learners.

A former freight house, also restored, is located
nearby and now houses the Windsor Art Center exhibition space. The art center
is a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting
visual and performing arts by showcasing the works of a variety of artists
working in diverse media and genres.
