Fresh From Carnegie Hall Concert, American Composer Performs Benefit for Tabor House

WEST HARTFORD, CT - Just two days after headlining back-to-back concerts at Carnegie Hall, Tim Janis takes his Christmas Rose Concert Tour to the Sisters of St. Joseph chapel to perform a benefit for Tabor House, a Hartford nonprofit that offers homeless men with HIV/AIDS a chance for health and independence.

Tabor House, a ministry of the Sisters of St. Joseph, offers a safe, nurturing home where residents are given the resources to focus on improving their health and well-being with the goal of living on their own. Tabor House also encourages family reunification to help residents develop the family support they need once they are living independently.  This month, three of the 13 men living at Tabor House will move out on their own.

Tabor House Executive Director Sister Gertrude Lanouette (a sister of the order of the Daughters of the Holy Spirit), a fan of Janis’ music, asked the composer if he would perform a benefit for Tabor House. Janis enthusiastically agreed to bring his Christmas Rose Tour to the Sisters of St. Joseph chapel.

“We are honored to have a musician of Tim Janis’ caliber take the time to perform a concert to benefit Tabor House,” Sister Gertrude said. “I am a fan of his music because it is healing and transcendent. It is a perfect way to help us soothe the angst of this past year and help us start the new year with a sense of peace.”

Janis, who lives in Kennebunk, Maine, is an American composer with more than one million albums sold, including many Christmas recordings, and four National Public Television specials. He has worked with Paul McCartney, Billy Joel, Ray Charles, George Clooney and James Earl Jones.
