Jazz Saxophonist from New York
Jazz saxophonist Carol Sudhalter, with organist Vito Di Modugno and drummer Justin Ottaviano at the Windsor Art Center on Thursday, November 1, at 6:30 PM. Carol belongs to a select group of women who play jazz around New York City, and to an even smaller group who play tenor sax, baritone sax and flute. She leads her own quartet, as well as the Astoria Big Band, which she started in 1987.
Carol is a nominee for Best International Jazz Flutist in DownBeat magazine’s 77th Annual Jazz Readers’ Poll 2012. She has performed in New York at Dizzy’s Club Coca-Cola (Lincoln Center), Trumpet’s, Pumpkins, Birdland, Danny’s Skylite Room, Iridium, Flushing Town Hall, JVC Jazz Festival, and more. She regularly tours Italy, UK and Switzerland.
