Cirillo Summer Theatre presents IN THE HEIGHTS

The 2008 Tony award winning musical, IN THE HEIGHTS, continues tonight, August 3, at 7:30 P.M., August 4 at 2:00 P.M. and Aug. 8, 9, 10 at 7:30 PM at the L. P. Wilson Community Center, 599 Matianuck Ave., Windsor.  This is the Cirillo Summer Theatre's 45th anniversary production, and the reviews have been phenomenal.  "SAW
THIS TONIGHT! INCREDIBLE does not begin to describe! The dedication
to the amazing text, characters and story was unbelievable!" said one person on the group's Facebook page.

IN THE HEIGHTS tells the universal story of a vibrant community in New
York’s Washington Heights neighborhood – a place where the coffee from
the corner bodega is light and sweet, the windows are always open and
the breeze carries the rhythm of three generations of music. It’s a
community on the brink of change, full of hopes, dreams and pressures,
where the biggest struggles can be deciding which traditions you take
with you, and which ones you leave behind.

This production is supported by a 9-member orchestra who handle the complex Latin rhythms with ease.  Drummer/percussionist Alex Giosa, originally from Windsor, plays the score, written for three percussionists on Broadway, all by himself, and he doesn't miss a beat.  From the opening number until the end, the opening night audience was glued to their seats--except for their feet which were dancing along with the cast.  They became "unglued" at the end when they sprang to their feet immediately after the closing number, giving the cast a well-deserved standing ovation.

Tickets for IN THE HEIGHTS are on sale at the door one half hour before curtain.  They are $15 for general admission and $12 for youth under 18 and seniors, age 65 and over.  For more information, please call 860-643-6446.
