Cirillo Summer Theatre presents IN THE HEIGHTS

Windsor's Cirillo Summer Theatre celebrates its 45th anniversary with the 2008 Tony award winning musical, In the Heights.  Originally composed by Lin Manuel Miranda while a student at Wesleyan University in Middletown, the show went on to receive accolades on Broadway with Miranda starring as the character of Usnavi de la Vega. Miranda wrote the lyrics as well, and the book was written by Quiara Alegia Hudes.

In the Heights tells the universal story of a vibrant community in New York's Washington Heights neighborhood - a place where the coffee from the corner bodega is light and sweet, the windows are always open and the breeze carries the rhythm of three generations of music.  It's a community on the brink of change, full of hopes, dreams and pressures, where the biggest struggles can be deciding which traditions you take with you and which ones you leave behind.

The Cirillo Summer Theatre production incorporates the talents of students and adults, ages 15 through 27, who easily sing and dance their way through complex Latin rhythms.  It is directed by Susan J. Vinick.  Musical direction is provided by Carlos Silva, and choreography is by Kristyn Fontanella.  Justin Brown assisted with music direction.

Performances of In the Heights are at the L. P. Wilson Community Center, 599 Matianuck Ave., Windsor, CT on August 2, 3, 8, 9, and 10 at 7:30 P.M.  A matinee is scheduled for August 4 at 2:00 P.M.  Tickets may be purchased at the door.  They are $15.00 for general admission.  Youth under 18 and Seniors, age 65 and over, may buy a ticket for only $12.00.
