Windsor Boys and Girls Win Class L Track Championships

Both boys and girls finished on top at the championship meet held in Middletown on Thursday.

Both girls and boys Windsor track teams took home the Class L championship on Thursday at Middletown High School. The girls bested second-place Daniel Hand by a commanding 35 points, while the boys won by 11.5 points.

The girls dominated the 400 meter dash, as expected, with sophomore Sydnee Over coming in first with an impressive time of 55.92 seconds. Over was closely followed in second place by fellow Lady Warrior Ashley Graves who recorded a 59.33 time.

Brianna Allen and Medinah Nabadduka scored big points for the Warriors, coming in second in the 200 meter dash and the 800 meter run, respectively.

The talented girls 4x100 relay team brought home first place as well. The team, made up of Chelsea Clarke, Janae Wilson, Courtney Kearse and Brianna Allen beat second-place team Daniel Hand by 1 second, with a time of 49.47 seconds.

The 4x400 team came in first as well. Sydnee Over, Brianna Allen, Nastasya Rodriques and Ashley Graves combined for a time of 3:56 seconds.

On the boys side, senior Zach Langs shined, winning the 110 and 300 meter hurdles.

The boys scored quality points in the 4x100 meter relay, coming in second to Notre Dame - West Haven by less than three-tenths of a second. They also came in second in the 4x400 meter relay.

Senior Greg Andrade, who is best known for his talent on the basketball court, showed off his leaping ability Thursday, coming in first in the high jump with a height of 6'5''.
