Windsor Shuts Down as Hurricane Sandy Nears

Facilities across town are shutting their doors Monday as, what some are calling, "Frankenstorm" inches closer to New England.

All town facilities, with the exception of the landfill, will be closed on Mon., Oct. 29, Windsor officials have announced.

The announcement came on the heels of Windsor Public Schools announcing school closures for both Monday and Tuesday as Hurricane Sandy prepares to make landfall and head toward New England.

WIN-TV's studios at L.P. Wilson Community Center will also be closed Monday.

As the storm passes through, town officials are directing residents' non-emergency questions and concerns to the town's storm center, which is expected to open sometime Monday.

The storm center can be reached by calling 860-285-1883. Until it opens, a recording will play when called.
