Windsor Returns to Darkness - 45% of Town Without Power

More than 6,000 Windsor CL&P customers are currently without power.

While some Windsor residents went nine days without power, having only been restored days ago, nearly half of all households and businesses in town are without power Thursday afternoon.

According to CL&P's outage map, 45 percent of CL&P customers in Windsor — 6,003 customers.

The cause of the outage is not related to October's snowstorm, said CL&P spokeswoman Katie Blint.

"A transmission line is down in Windsor," said Blint, adding that crews are en route.

Blint was unable to say the number of crews being sent to Windsor and could not say the extent of necessary repairs.

Blint added that there is currently no timeline for power restoration.

Outages reported were on the rise Thursday, as the total number of CL&P customers without power rose above 11,000 throughout the state.

As of Tuesday, less than 1 percent of Windsor residents were reported to be without power.
