Windsor Power Outage Update: Crews Are Making Repairs

Close to 1,000 customers in town have been restored, but there's still no estimate for the rest of town.

CL&P crews are currently on the scene of down transmission lines that caused nearly half of all CL&P customers to lose power Thursday afternoon, according to CL&P spokesman Mitch Gross.

The crews have been at work for more than an hour, said Gross, and have restored power to about 1,000 customers as of 5 p.m.

While many customers have just had their power restored in previous days, Gross said "We completely understand the situation [customers are experiencing], and we're all over it."

As of 4:45 CL&P has been unable to provide an estimate as to when residents and businesses will have their power restored.

CL&P's outage map, as of 5 p.m. Thursday reports that 40 percent of residents are without power -- a 5 percent improvement from Thursday afternoon when customers found themselves without power once again.

Power outages spiked throughout the state Thursday, with Windsor bearing the brunt of damage. While Gross was unable to identify the cause of downed transmission lines in town, he did say that outages across the state were the result of Thursday's rain storm.
