Windsor Homes Shake in Maine Earthquake

Some Windsor residents say they felt their home shake Tuesday when tremors from a Maine-based quake reverberated throughout New England.

The United States Geological Survey confirmed Tuesday night that a 4.6 magnitude earthquake occured in southern Maine and it sent shockwaves throughout New England.

Those tremors were felt across the state of Connecticut, including in the homes of Windsor residents.

In Windsor, numerous postings on the Windsor Patch Facebook page described the local effects of Maine's quake.

Terese Newman said she "definitely felt it," saying she heard her house rattle "unlike any rattle noise we've heard before."

Emily Woodward said her house shook, while Ann Dillon said it "felt like the whole house twisted."

According to the Connecticut Division of Emergency Management and Homeland Security, no damage had been reported as of 8:50 p.m. on Tuesday.

Did you feel the tremors? Where were you and what were you doing at the time? Share your story with your neighbors here in Windsor!

I'm 340 lbs and I felt my lazy boy moving involuntarily - At first glance, I thought I was imagining that this had happened. Moments later, my daughter ran down stairs and said " Dad, my entire bed was shaking". A very scary moment - Dave Chapman

LOL, maybe now the people of Windsor realize what the residents around the Dollar Tree Warehouse have been feeling since June/July, only not for 20 seconds, 12+ hours a day. And we know its more than 12hrs right Peter?
