What Voters Should Know for Tuesday's Primary

Marilyn Boehm, of the Windsor-North Central League of Women Voters presents what voters need to know heading into Tuesday's primary.

Next Tuesday, August 14, is a Primary Election Day in Windsor and throughout Connecticut.  This election is to select the candidates from each party who will run in the November elections.  You must be registered with a Party, Republican or Democrat, to vote in this election on Tuesday.

If you are a registered Republican you will be voting for your candidate for U.S. Senate in the fall election.  There are two people running for the Republican nomination:  Chris Shays and Linda McMahon.  The winner will appear on the ballot in November. 

If you are a registered Democrat you will be voting for your candidate for the U.S. Senate in the fall election.  There are two people running for the Democratic nomination: Chris Murphy and Susan Bysiewicz.  The winner will appear on the ballot in November.

In addition, if you are a registered Democrat living in the southern section of Windsor, in voting districts 1,2,3, you will be selecting the candidate for the new State Assembly district in Windsor.  There are three people running for Democratic nomination: Leo Canty, Don Trinks, and Brandon McGee.

The following week, on August 21, there will be an election for Judge of Probate. Three towns will participate : Windsor, South Windsor, and East Windsor. There are four candidates for Probate Judge:  Marianne Lassman Fisher, Kevin McCann, Judith Paquin, and Keith Yagaloff.
