Additional cots were needed to accommodate the influx of residents seeking shelter.

Windsor's storm shelter is churning out meals, showers and cots. The facility, located in L.P. Wilson Community Center, sheltered 392 residents overnight on Monday, and provided 400 meals.

Tuesday, as of 1 p.m., the shelter had served more than 650 meals.

The shelter, which originally only comprised the community center's gymnasium, has had to expand its operations, using portions of the board of education wing and former Youth Services Bureau space.
