Scheila Schmidt Fishing Tourney to Kickoff Weekend of Shad Events

The fishing tournament, a lobster fest and the Lions' Arts and Crafts Fair on the green will all be held this weekend.

It's officially all about the shad and family fun starting Friday night when the 31st Sheila Schmidt Fishing Tournament will be held at Washington Park.

From 6 p.m. - 8 p.m., school-age children can grab a pole and bait (provided at the park for this event) and cast a line into the park's pond, which has been stocked with trout, for free.

The family affair will also feature burgers, hot dogs and more.

Also on Friday night, Windsor's Masonic Temple Association will hold its annual LobsterFest, with seatings at 6 p.m. and 7 p.m. The annual dinner supports scholarships for Windsor High School students.

Following Friday's fun will be a full day of crafts on the Town Green presented by the Windsor Lions.

Saturday, beginning at 9 a.m., the Town Green will be tuned into a gold mine for arts and crafts enthusiasts. Crafters and artists will travel from throughout the region to put their work on display and up for sale. Those who are a little behind on their Mother's day shopping may be able to find something as well.
