Meet Trinity Christian's New Headmaster: Rodney Shively

Shively arrives at Trinity from Ohio.

New back packs, new equipment, new students, new headmaster.

Rodney Shively, Trinity Christian School's new headmaster, is taking hold of the reigns as the new school year is about to begin.

Shively, his wife Michelle and family arrived from Ohio in May to begin getting aquainted with the Windsor community.  Moving to Connecticut is coming back home for Michelle who grew up in South Windsor and still has family there.

For Shively it is the opportunity to work in a Christian school that he has been hoping for.

"I am a product of Christian education," said Shively, who attended Christian college and also helped as a worship leader in the church environment. As a teacher, Shively said he "enjoyed being around the students and seeing them grow and accomplish their goals... As a principal, I realized what an awesome responsibility it was to have such a positive influence on the lives of so many students."

Shively believes that TCS offers it's students a unique Christ-centered environment, different from what other schools in the areas offer.

"I believe one of the main characteristics is the opportunity to reiterate in the classroom the biblical training young people are receiving at home and in church," he said.  "We are charged with a great task: to raise up a righteous generation."

Shively has chosen a mission statement for this school year: “Together We Can S.O.A.R.," which is an acronym for Socially, Organizationally, Academically and Relationally.

He plans to reach out to the Windsor community by working with the Junior National Honor Society students, Student Government and TCS's Preschool Director "to plan outreach opportunities in the Windsor area and beyond," said Shively.  "We want to be a blessing to the community and just let them know we are here."

Shively is excited about the new directions Trinity Christian School can go in.

"We will continue to make sure that we offer the absolute best experience possible as well as a Christ-permeated atmosphere," he said.  "I would like to see our enrollment increase, especially on the Middle School level." Shively also hopes to see a sports program developed and an increased focus on theatrical arts.

"I believe TCS has a strong foundation and I intend to build upon it and make TCS one of the premier Christian schools in the area."
